SHARK CAGE

DIVING EXPEDITIONS.

Adventure isn’t something you need to contemplate.

Our Shark Cage Diving trips take place from the Kleinbaai harbour in the fishing town Gansbaai, 160 km from Cape Town and it takes about 2 hours 30 min by road. Although Gansbaai was once known as the White Shark Capital of the World, the most common shark seen on our trip is the Bronze Whaler Shark – also known as the Copper Shark (Carcharhinus brachyurus).

Due to variable weather conditions and shark activity, diving may not always be possible and shark sightings are therefore not guaranteed.

The excursion we offer consists of approximately two-and-a-half hours at sea.

Time related itineraries and collection times are dependent on tides, weather conditions and the number of scheduled tours for a particular day. Exact collection times are therefore only available after 16h00 the day before and may vary between 04h30 and 11h30.

Meet the team for a light breakfast and your introductory briefing at the Cape Shark Adventures Crew House.

Bottled water is available on our boat, Barracuda. Wetsuits and diving masks are provided and there are hot showers available on return to shore.

You DO NOT need to be a qualified diver to enter the cage as we use a simple breath-hold technique whilst in the cage. Children under 12 are allowed to come on the boat but only those over 12 years old are permitted to dive. Cape Shark Adventures is committed to showing you the sharks in the most environmentally friendly way possible. In the unlikely event that we don’t find sharks we will offer you a free trip on an alternate day.

You will spend two-and-a-half hours at sea, but after that, it will wash through you forever.
